Doing it right costs less than doing it over!
Let me help you build the deck of your dreams!
Let me help you build the deck of your dreams!
My name is Justin Sorrentino, owner operator of Sorrentino Carpentry & Construction Inc., and I am excited to be a part of the Hudson Valley community, including Westchester and Dutchess counties. My company has been working with homeowners and business owners for more than 10 years. We are family-owned, fully insured and specialize in:
We often get requests for custom work, even projects we’ve never before designed. We especially love being tasked with such challenges, as they tend to cultivate client relationships that are fun, creative and exciting. Our ability to “think outside the box,” coupled with our many years of experience, ultimately make for the best transformations.
Your Dreams, Not Ours
Whatever the project, our focus is to help you build your dreams, not ours. We want to work with you, not just for you. We get an immense sense of pride in listening, designing and bringing to fruition our clients’ dreams for their spaces. That’s because our own business is built on a solid foundation of trust and partnership.
We often get calls to fix messes and work other contractors never completed. To avoid situations like these, I always recommend that you do your due diligence and choose a construction company that is right for you. I recommend getting as many quotes as you can, and then I ask that you get one more. If a customer can't take the time to do something to gain knowledge about what they want done, then they aren't the customers I'm looking to serve. At the end of the day, those are customers who just want the cheapest price and don’t care enough about quality, craftmanship, and getting the job done right.
The first question I ask a customer is about permits. If it turns out they want to pull them or do something without a permit, I politely tell them to keep me in mind for the next time they want to make a difference in their home. After all, rules are set in place by our counties to protect homeowners and my industry. Anyone can say they can do a job for $20,000, but there's a good reason why I might quote that same job for $50,000. When something is too good to be true, it is. That job is still unfinished, and I'm sure it never will be.
Communication and Trust
Today, more than ever, it is so important to feel comfortable with the contractors you invite into your home or business. For a real bond of trust to be formed, communication is crucial. I educate my clients on the pros and cons of their ideas before implementing any solutions. I give thought not only to the immediate future, but your long-term needs.
We also understand that remodeling projects that interrupt your living and working environments are stressful enough, so we do our best to put you at ease and feel comfortable during our project together. Perhaps this is why referrals and word of mouth keep us busy and thriving. It is the highest compliment every time a happy client recommends a friend or family member to us. Once they do, they are much so more than just a client to us—they are part of the Sorrentino Carpentry & Construction family. So let's wrap this up by saying, "Doing it right costs less than doing it over."

Composite decking outlasts and requires less maintenance than natural wood but often better resembles it. Composite boards are heavier than PVC boards and generally are made from a mixture of plastic and wood fibers, most of which are recycled materials. Trex® is the world’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking products. They create durable, low-maintenance, high-performance materials in a range of colors and styles.
Pressure-treated lumber is susceptible to fading and staining showing every spill, scuff, and blemish. And while a wooden deck can be revived with seasonal painting, staining, and sealing, composite offer homeowners a virtually maintenance-free surface that won’t rot or splinter, while also resisting mold growth, insects, and more.
Due to its impervious qualities when up against the elements, composite decking require higher initial investments compared to pressure-treated wood. But while the lower price of traditional wood can seem appealing, the easy, maintenance-free qualities of Trex allow for it to pay for itself in around one year. Wooden decking will continue to require resealing, repainting, and restaining, along with any repairs to areas subjected to insect damage or rot for the life of your deck. Plus, the price of pressure-treated lumber has gone way up in the recent months. It’s not dollar to dollar the same price point although after staining a pressure-treated deck, the cost is equal. However, composite come with warranties as long as 25 years. Don't forget that installing or upgrading your deck to a composite material will add to your property’s value.
Importantly, when it comes to building and installing, manufacturer’s guidelines should be followed carefully. That’s why you should only hire a professional who is specially trained and experienced in the product. For example, we are a TrexPRO® builder. We have been designing and building carefully constructed decks throughout the Hudson Valley for more than 10 years.
